Our Little Fish 5/4/2008

Jen and Sophie came over today for a swim.
Their pool is not warm enough yet and
the pools at my community are heated.
Even though there are a lot of rules
at my pool, Sophie still loves to
come to Grandma's pool.

She loves to swim!!!!!

Coming up for air

Getting instructions from Mom!!

Swimming along side Grandma!!
Sophie and I play in the pool all summer.
If I had to choose the one thing I like to do the most with my
Grandchildren, it would be swim.
We dive for toys, jump off the side and have races.
Since I did not learn to swim until a few years ago, it
makes it even more special.
Here comes SUMMER!!!!

A Short Time with Sophie 5/2/2008

I spent some time with my Granddaughter today
while her Mother was running Tiler around
and going to a meeting so Sophie
can have summer entertainment
(like cheerleading camp).

We had entertainment of our own!!!

She's a blast!!!!!!!

School is almost out!!! 5/1/2008

We went to Tiler's last track meet of the
year. He did a great job, always does!!!
Tiler is very dedicated to his sports and
give it his all.

We also had the privilege of watching Tiler play Soccer for the first time this year.
He did very well and is looking forward to playing
again next year.

Tiler started playing football at a very young
age and has always been the quarterback and that was no exception this year.
Well, all of this is over for one more year.
Summer is fast approaching and I will be posting
pictures in the pool soon!!

Sick!!! 4/20/2008

Well,
I have been sick
for almost a week now.
It started off not too bad,
but last night was the worst;
I may be on the up swing now, I hope.
The only thing I accomplished
this week is this pillow.
I don’t know what inspired me.
I don’t think it was the coughing, sneezing, running nose, head and chest pain.
***
I just had to share that!!!!!!

Who's Watching You???? 4/6/2008

Yesterday.
I did volunteer gardening at the old castle downtown.
In addition to gardening we took a tour of
the grounds and learned about
the family history.
There is a very interesting story about this place.
You can read all about it at
http://phoenix.gov/PARKS/tovrea.html
When it was built in 1930, it was not even
in the city limits. Now it is in the middle of downtown Phoenix.

When I was done there I joined my friends Marlene and Toni
over at the park.
REI was having a kayak demo day, so we were pretending
to have plenty of money to buy additional kayaks
for summer fun!

We were having so much fun we didn't even notice
that we were being watched!!

Garden Update 4/1/2008

Well it is Tuesday and that is my garden day.

Did I mention I'm going to be a Master Gardener!!

We didn't plant much today, but we worked hard.

I worked with the compost,

turning it from one compartment to the other,
I love composting,
I guess because it is a recipe
and I love any thing
that has a recipe involved.
Like making soap,
that's a recipe also but
that's another story.
My food from the garden today is leeks, more great baby carrots,
another wonderful artichoke and onions.
For all of you that are sick of
hearing about
the garden.
Next weekend is finally time to
go kayaking, so I will
have kayaking
stories to tell!!

A Handsome Guy!!! 3/29/2008

It is hard to get pictures of Tiler, he is 15 and always on the move.
Well, as fast as his MOM will allow.
My camera caught up with him at a church football game yesterday,
it is hard to believe he is almost 6 feet tall.
He is a good kid and I am so proud!!
Tiler plays football, soccer and runs track.
He is in Student Government and on the Honor Roll.
Tiler is very active at church, he helps teach the 3rd grade class
and also is a 3rd grade counselor at camp in the summer.
How is that for bragging!!

Tennis Anyone!!! 3/29/2008

I played a lot of tennis when I was young,
so when Sophie showed an interest in the sport I was very excited.

Here are just a few pictures of one of
our outings.

She has great form for a 5 year old, well almost 6.

The Wall Walkers 3/26/2008

Every morning these little guy walk past my house on the wall, it is so cute. There are about 15 of them each morning. They also come back by in the evening, sometimes they have babies with them, but not this morning.
They are Gambel's Quail.

They like to peck around in this old stump for something to eat!!
My computer is in front of a big window that looks out onto my patio, so the mornings that I am at my computer I see these happy little birds. Sometimes they come right up and look in my window but then run away when they see me move.
It starts the day off right and I think to myself, how very lucky I am, and I thank God for the little things.

What a Surprise!! 3/25/2008

When I got to the garden today,
look what I found.
There were two artichokes
on the big plant that we have been watching
grow all winter.

It is heating up here in Arizona
so we are planting all new warm
weather crops.
This week we planted
cucumbers, melons, squash.

This is what we are eating out
of the garden this week.
This is my dinner for tomorrow!!!
Yum Yum!!! Bok Choy, artichoke,
beets, carrots and red leafy lettuce.
There was a piece of asparagus
here also
but I eat it on the way home,
it was too good!!!

Someone has to do it..... 3/11/2008

...and it may as well be me, since I love it so much!!!

As you know I am going to school to be a Master Gardener
and that is all you will hear about for a while.
We must give 50 hours of volunteer work
before graduation.
I like to put most of my hours in at the
vegetable garden and this is why.

The garden is beautiful!

With all of its Hollyhocks.

There are so many growing everywhere that we must
pull them every week.

The garden in interesting!

This is an artichoke plant for those that do not know.

The garden is very rewarding, it gives back.

This is my take for today.

After we work for 3 or 4 hours we get to harvest.

We grow vegetables year around here in Arizona.

I have tried this at home but it never works for me.

That is what makes this garden so fun.

This garden is in the perfect world, what a wonderful place to be!!!!

Flowers from the Master Garden.

Botanical Gardens 3/9/2008

I know Jen already blogged
about our trip
to the Botanical Gardens
with my sister from Colorado,
but we had such a great time
that I would like to also post my pictures of the day.

Time to Garden 2/24/2008

You have probably noticed
that I have been away from my bog.
I am pretty busy these days with my Master Gardening Class.
This is something I have been waiting to do most of my life
and now I am finally getting the chance.

Last week a few of us worked on the
Desert Interpretive Trail down town.
The trail was in need of a lot of work
and this was only one of many loads to the dump.

We removed a few stumps that day also
and Pam is an expert as you can see.
She is our leader for this project and
Expert Master Gardener.
